First thing to note: complying with does not actually mean anything, especially if you 2 aren't "friends." It simply suggests that your posts marked PUBLIC will show up in their timeline. Immaterial (you noted it PUBLIC, right?).
Second, if you would like to know who is IN FACT following you:
1. Go to your close friends checklist
2. Hit the "MORE" button on the right
3. then strike "Following".
If you do not like what you see because checklist, you can click the "Manage" pencil icon and then the "Edit Privacy" button in the top right (see display shot over).
Note: If you let individuals who aren't your good friends follow you, people that send close friend requests that you disregard or remove will automatically start following you. If you do not want somebody to follow you, you can obstruct them at any moment.
